This Breathtaking World
Rabbi Naomi Levy offers these words for the blessing of a newborn baby: “Welcome, welcome to this breathtaking world. We have been waiting for you. Waiting to see your beautiful face, to hear the sound of your cry, to kiss you, hold you, rock you. You are the fruit of our love, of our hearts, of our souls.”
What if we used those words of greeting for every person we met? Imagine that in the grocery store, in line at the local coffee shop, when we stepped up the counter at the DMV: “Welcome, welcome to this breathtaking world. We have been waiting for you...
Rabbi Levy’s blessing is from “Talking to God" (Knopf, 2002).
